The San Diego Brain Injury Foundation works to improve the quality of life for brain injury survivors and their families living in San Diego County.
Every 23 seconds someone in the U.S. suffers a brain injury. In San Diego, 11,000 people annually are affected by traumatic brain injury. Although there are many medical facilities that help with the initial diagnosis and treatment, SDBIF addresses long-term needs by providing resources including free educational meetings, a brain injury guide, and a hotline with referral and support group information.
The Mensa Foundation’s Laura Joyner Award recognizes outstanding work, theoretical or applied, in education, literacy, or work with the gifted, or identifying threats to or preventing the loss of intelligence.
