Theme
HI, AI, & Personhood
We are told that A.I. is the future, whether we want it or not. Such an ethically and politically questionable assumption aside, it makes sense for us to think about what, exactly, we are creating when we strive to create Artificial Intelligence. Is technologically-manufactured intelligence different at all from human intelligence? Is an A.I. that is conscious automatically a person (with moral standing)? What, in fact, is consciousness? And, indeed, what is a person?
