This conundrum challenges you to explore the relationship between human and artificial intelligence. The goal is to develop actionable ideas that highlight how AI can amplify human capabilities while preserving the creativity, consciousness, and ethical reasoning that define our humanity.

The Conundrum Competition marks the launch of an exciting initiative that unites individuals passionate about solving societal challenges. On July 3, 2025, at the Hilton Chicago, participants will form teams to tackle a thought-provoking question inspired by the Mensa Foundation’s annual Colloquium theme. By leveraging creativity, critical thinking, and diverse perspectives, teams will collaborate to develop actionable solutions that showcase the multifaceted nature of intelligence.

Who can participate?

The competition is open to curious minds of all backgrounds, including Mensa members and non-members. Colloquium attendees can participate for free, while others can join through a separate registration process.

Do I need to attend the Colloquium to join?

No, you can participate in the competition without attending the Colloquium. However, Colloquium attendees benefit from exclusive lectures and discussions that directly address the conundrum, providing deeper insights and context for their solutions.

What prizes are available?

Cash prizes and commemorative awards will be given to the teams with the most innovative and actionable solutions.

How much time does participation require?

The competition takes place over the course of a single afternoon, including team assignment, solution development, and presentations.

What resources are provided for participants?

Participants will receive a briefing on the conundrum, detailed guidelines, and essential tools to create and present their solutions.

Schedule

July 3, 2025 – Hilton Chicago

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Registration: Arrive, check in, and collect your materials.

12:00 PM – 12:30 PM

Welcome & Briefing: Kick off the day with an introduction to the competition and an overview of the conundrum.

12:30 PM – 1:00 PM

Team Formation & Icebreaker: Teams are formed and participate in an activity designed to break the ice, build rapport, and set the stage for effective collaboration.

1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

Collaboration & Solution Development: Teams brainstorm and create your 5 minute presentation, supported by facilitators.

2:30 PM – 2:45 PM

Break: Take a moment to recharge.

2:45 PM – 4:00 PM

Presentation Preparation: Finalize and polish your team’s presentation for submission.

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Presentations & Judging: Share your ideas with a panel of judges, followed by a Q&A session.

5:00 PM

Awards & Closing Remarks: Celebrate the winners and reflect on the day’s achievements.
