Application

The Mensa Foundation’s Dissertation Mini-Grant provides a $2,500 award to doctoral students for dissertation research related to intelligence or gifted education. Encouraging applications from students who have developed their dissertation proposal and methodology, the program seeks proposals for research on human intelligence or creativity across the lifespan and in the contexts of learning and education of those who are gifted, or from underserved gifted-student populations such as twice-exceptional, culturally or linguistically diverse, or the economically disadvantaged.

Enter the abstract of your proposed research project (250 words maximum).
Briefly describe the potential contribution this study will make to the field of gifted education (250 words maximum).
Upload your approved dissertation proposal that must include the following: Narrative statement of the problem, conceptual or theoretical framework, research questions/hypotheses to be tested, a brief review of the literature, a description of your methodology and data analysis plan including approach to avoid bias, and a list of references cited.

Upload a current CV or résumé that includes your employment and education history, relevant graduate courses completed, recent publications and presentations, relevant professional affiliations and memberships, leadership and volunteer service to the field of gifted education, psychology, or a related field.

Please upload at least one signed and dated letter of support from your dissertation advisor or faculty member that includes a statement of your current dissertation proposal approval and progress toward the degree with an estimated date of completion. The letter should address the applicant’s potential for success in the field, qualifications and research experience and include the advisor/faculty member’s contact information.
